Links with the community

Alcoa has implemented various consultation instruments and processes in the framework of its current projects. Thus, it aims to strengthen its collaboration with different players in the community, while fostering the development of high quality projects in both their social and environmental aspects.

An exchange and information committee

An exchange and information committee, comprised of major players from various sectors of activity, was created in June 2009. The role of this committee is to accompany Alcoa in the accomplishment of its projects, and to further the consideration of local concerns in the definition and realization of these projects.

Public information briefings

Public information briefings are also organized in the framework of these projects, not only to provide the public with information and answers, but also to gather comments and take the concerns of the population into account. The first information briefing was held in June 2009. A second briefing was held on October 7, 2009. Additional briefings will be planned when either projects will reach any major milestone.
